Please feel free to contact him (a.galassi *at* ) or his thesis supervisors (Paola Mello, llo *at* , Federico Chesani federico.chesani *at* ) for further questions.įor further information, the thesis is available here: Symbolic versus sub-symbolic approaches: a case study on training Deep Networks to play Nine Men’s Morris game. These datasets have been created by Andrea Galassi, as part of his master thesis in Computer Science Engineering ("Ingegneria Informatica", in italian) and as part of a successive work. The State Dataset contains only game states and can be used for testing purposes. The Good Moves Dataset (also called Matches Dataset) contains couples state-move and can be used for train systems. This data sets are collections of states of the game Nine Men's Morris, which have been created with the purpose to apply machine learning to train softwares to play to the game, and to test their performances. These datasets are available on NNMM's GitHub page: The accepted version of this work (post-print) can be found here (top of the page) Mello, "Can Deep Networks Learn to Play by the Rules? With only three men left, a player may jump a piece to any vacant point. Closing two mills simultaneously during the opening phase only allows one of the opponent's men to be removed. If all the opponent's men are part of mills, any may be removed. When closing a mill (three-in-a-row), any opponent's piece which is not part of a mill may be removed. After all men are placed, players slide stones to adjacent vacant point. During the opening phase Players alternately place men on an empty spot. The object of the game is to leave the opposing player with fewer than three pieces or, as in checkers, with no legal moves. The game begins with an empty board and both players, White and Black start with nine men each. Nine Men’s Morris is played on a board with 24 spots where men may be placed.
